Child care temporarily ceases operations

The Marietta Family YMCA Child Care Center has made the difficult decision for the safety of the children in our programs, our staff and the community to temporarily cease Child Care programs effective Friday, March 20th. We want to support the community and families in helping slow the spread of this deadly virus. We are receiving new information that the risk factor for younger age groups are indeed rising

As soon as we feel it is safe to o"er our services we will reopen. Currently enrolled children will not lose their spots. We will cease all tuition until we reopen. Please check our Facebook page for updates. If at any time you have any questions, you are welcome to email me or call and leave a message and I will get back in touch with you. We will call each enrolled family with the reopening date once decided. Thanks for your ongoing support and understanding in this matter.

Check our child care Facebook page for updates.

Letter to Members, Guests, Participants and Staff about COVID-19 UPDATED

As the COVID-19 pandemic unfolds, our commitment to youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility will not waiver. Each Y is working closely with local, state, and federal authorities, as well as with one another to respond to the unique needs of communities.

Per Governor DeWine's order to close fitness facilities, YMCAs must close our fitness operations at the end of day, March 16, 2020. However, a Y’s decision to continue to provide other essential, non-fitness services, such as child care and feeding programs, will vary by community.

In response to and partnership with public health officials, some Ys, are expanding child care services to meet the needs of the families of first responders and health care workers, as well as providing access to prepared meals and food supplies. Other Ys, at the direction of local departments of health, may temporarily be suspending these services.

In each community the response will appear different. But the dedication to serving our communities remains consistent. We are at the front of this fight and will continue to work with all to help stop the spread of this pandemic. We ask for your patience and continued support as we stand united in service during this unprecedented time.

Optional: We ask you to stay with us. Each Ohio YMCA is a charitable organization continuing to support our communities through our mission, as described above. As a cause-driven member, stay with us, even though your access to our fitness centers is temporarily curtailed. We realize not everyone is able to continue supporting the YMCA with their membership dues, but we ask those who can to stay with us.

Respectfully,

Amid the Coronavirus-19 concerns, we want to provide you with information about steps we’re taking and how you can help.

First; a reminder that no matter what cleaning we do, no matter what precautions we take and you take, everyone who interacts in a public setting takes a risk of exposure to any variety of viruses and germs.

However, we can all do things to reduce the spread of viruses, and in particular, the Coronavirus-19:
  • COVER: Cough into the crook of your elbow or into a tissue that is immediately thrown away.
  • CLEAN: Frequently wash/disinfect your hands and wipe down fitness equipment/toys and other equipment used.
  • CONTAIN: Stay home when you are sick and limit touching your face.

In addition, at the Y we are / have:
  • Added cleaning hours including additional disinfecting of the Childcare Center equipment and additional cleaning of equipment in our Group Exercise facilities;
  • Prioritizing cleaning to disinfecting surfaces;
  • Installed additional hand sanitizer stations;
  • Added disinfectant bottles to fitness areas and changing the microfiber cloths more frequently;
  • Checking & refilling hand soap, hand sanitizer and paper towels more frequently;
  • Continuing our regular cleaning and sanitizing of all areas of the facility.

As with all health concerns if you have questions about what’s best for you, you should speak with your healthcare professional. You can also visit conoravirus.gov, coronavirus.ohio.gov, or cdc.gov for more information.

The YMCA will continue to monitor the situation and communicate any necessary recommended changes as they become available.
Thank you for helping create a healthy environment where everyone can reach their goals, make friends and belong.
