Evan's Story
Five year-old Evan is attending our Camp Caterpillar program this summer. He began attending Y Child Care in April 2013 after he moved here from Florida. Evan has been raised by his grandfather, Steve since he was a baby and because of this, he has spent most of his time with adults. While attending Y Child Care, Evan is becoming more 'socialized' with his peers and is working on his kindergarten readiness. Camp Caterpillar has helped Evan to make several new friends, to practice classroom skills, and has allowed him to interact and play with individuals his own age.

Evan has been involved in Y sports such as youth basketball and youth soccer. While attending these sports programs, Evan learned valuable skills such as being a team player, following direction, rules and listening skills. Evan has also been taking Y swim lessons this summer, where he has not only learned the essentials of swimming, he has also learned water and pool safety.

The Y is for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Evan is a wonderful success story of how the Y is strengthening our community; one life at a time. We wish Evan the best as he goes off to Kindergarten, and we look forward to watching him grow even more through our youth programs.
